Location
Huatulco’s Bays are located on the coast of Oaxaca in the southwest Mexican Pacific, at the end of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountain range and covering 35 km (21.7 miles) of the Mexican Pacific coastline. Huatulco is located 277 km (172 miles) from the capital of the state of Oaxaca (Oaxaca) and 50 minutes by air from Mexico City.
Huatulco’s Bays are part of a quaint and picturesque state characterized by its Mexican traditions and folklore, still very attached to pre-Hispanic culture. Reason why Huatulco’s Bays, with their colorful character and natural landscapes, are a frequent destination for foreigners and international cruise ships, making it relevant for its multiculturalism y diversity.

SANTA CRUZ
One of the most important bays since the pier and a dock for international cruise
ships are located there.
CACALUTA
A famous bay because every year it receives several migratory birds, and were the meaning of its Zapotec name comes from, which means “black bird.”
TANGOLUNDA
Considered the main hotel area.
MAGUEY
Visited very frequently for the tranquility of its waves, and its warm, crystalline water that reflects blue and green tones.
CHACHACUAL
Bay where Huatulco’s National Park is
located, having a large ecological reserve. This bay has 2 virgin beaches that can only be accessed by the sea.
CHAHUÉ
Bay where CASA NABANI is located
as well as the yacht marina.
ÓRGANO
Bay that has a virgin beach and moderate waves.
SAN AGUSTÍN
A famous bay because of its large beach extension as well as having a coral reef just a few steps into the sea.

Distintivo S | Sustainable Guarantee (Mexican certification)
– Awarded in 2014
– The Distintivo S (S Badge) is a recognition of good sustainable practices in the
development of tourism projects and the commitments of tourism companies
that operate in Mexico, using global sustainability criteria at a global level.
– This badge endorses the certifications issued by EarthCheck and Rainforest
Alliance.
Man & Biosphere Program (MAB)
– Designated by UNESCO in 2006 to the municipality of Santa María Huatulco
and Huatulco’s National Park as Huatulco Biosphere Reserve.
Ramsar
– In 2003 the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention) internationally
named an important part of the municipality of Santa María Huatulco as a
Ramsar Site.
– It includes 102,111 terrestrial acres and 7,603 marine acres.
Playa Limpia NMX-120-SCFI-2006 SEMARNAT (Mexican certification)
– The Mexican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources granted the
“Playa Limpia Sustentable” certification (Sustainable Clean Beach certification)
to Chahué Beach in recreational mode and to El Órgano Beach in conservation
mode since it’s part of a natural reserve inside Huatulco’s National Park.
– Annual monitoring and supervision takes place to provide follow-up.
Blue Flag
– Awarded in 2013 to Chahué Beach
– International distinction awarded to beaches and marinas. This certification
recognizes coastal destinations with excellence in environmental
management, safety and service, environmental education as well as water
quality.
EarthCheck
– El Centro Integralmente Planeado (CIP / Comprehensively Planned Center) of
Fonatur Huatulco receives the international EarthCheck certification for its sustainable development program, being the first tourist community in America and the third in the world to achieve this environmental certification (previously called Green Globe).
